McDonald's, Vernon, Connecticut
After installing CoolTrol to control one, one-door walk-in cooler and one, one-door walk-in freezer thermostat, door heaters and replacing evaporator fan motors with ECM's (electronically commutated motors), McDonald's franchise owners Tim and Tom Walsh achieved dramatic reductions in refrigeration-unit use at their Vernon, Connecticut, restaurant. The NRM upgrades will save 15,934 kilowatt hours per year, or roughly $2,230 annually. Total lifetime savings from these energy efficient refrigeration measures: 126,600 kWh.* "[Our goal] is to reduce our energy use as much as possible with efficient equipment and innovative thinking, and take it to the next level," says Tom Walsh.
