Sample Energy Profiles & Reports
1. Energy Profile of Site

This example shows that peak demand occurs in the evening
and early morning hours when the outside lights are on.
PROBLEM: Part of an energy bill is based on peak demand, but you have no idea when the peak happens and if there’s anything you can do to reduce energy loads.
RSM SOLUTION: Our Energy Profile shows you the total kilowatts and amperages of every monitored device in your facility over a 1 hour to 1 week timeframe. This allows you to analyze peak loads and possibly identify ways of reducing kW demand among all of your electrical systems.

2. Walk-In Cooler Cold Storage/Meat Facility

PROBLEM: Compressor is running all the time, only you don’t know it until you get the huge utility bill in the mail.
RSM SOLUTION: Thanks to an RSM Alarm, you look at a Trend Report and discover that your compressor is running all the time, even though the temperatures in your cooler are satisfied. There’s a problem somewhere. In this case, a technician was called and found that the compressor contactor had welded shut. This problem was detected and repaired within 24 hours! Undetected, this condition would have resulted in $3,000 to $4,000 in energy waste annually.

3. Walk-In Cooler Cold Storage/Produce Facility

PROBLEM: Electric defrost heaters not coming on.
RSM SOLUTION: You receive a Low Coil Temperature Alarm and High Space Temperature Alarm via text messaging, which prompts you to view a Trend Report where you see that your evaporator temperature is dropping a sign that your electric defrost heaters may be malfunctioning or not coming on at all. Now you know where to investigate the problem before your evaporator coils freeze resulting in product losses or costly repairs.

4. Air Conditioning Unit Restaurant

PROBLEM: Air conditioning unit is short cycling.
RSM SOLUTION: After receiving an RSM Alarm, your HVAC technician sees that your air conditioning unit has started to short cycle. In this case, the technician came to the restaurant, discovered that the condenser fan was failing and replaced it within 2 hours of first detecting the problem, saving a much more costly repair and uncomfortable patrons down the road.

5. Deli Cooler Attached to Walk-In Freezer Convenience Store

PROBLEM: Temperature in deli cooler is too cold, while temperature in freezer is too warm. Compressor is running excessively in the freezer.
RSM SOLUTION: Our system triggers a Low Temperature Alarm in your cooler, letting you know that something’s not right. The Trend Report shows that someone has left the door open between the deli cooler and walk-in freezer, so the air in your cooler is getting too cold while you’re freezer is getting too warm. You’ve just averted a problem with product spoilage in both areas, saved energy by reducing compressor run time (without RSM, you wouldn’t even know your compressor was running all the time, you’d just get a higher electric bill), and alerted your employees to be more conscientious about closing doors tightly.

6. Meat Cooler Grocery Store

PROBLEM: Door to meat cooler left open overnight.
RSM SOLUTION: With RSM, you can set any number of alarm messages. In this case, the owner/manager was alerted that the door was left open for more than an hour. After reviewing the trend, she discovered it was left open from the time the store closed until it opened the next morning. She immediately spoke with her employees about being more conscientious.
