Initially, he was approached by a knowledgeable NRM Advisor on behalf of his utility company’s energy incentives program who conducted a quick, but thorough, measurement of Mr. Patel’s refrigeration equipment and current operation. Following that, NRM analyzed Mr. Patel’s opportunities for savings and presented the project scope to him for his approval.

NRM found areas for improvement in evaporator runtimes, evaporator motor upgrades, anti-sweat door heater controls, and in-cooler LED lighting upgrades. All told, NRM proposed Mr. Patel could save over 30,000 kWh every year (compared to now, doing nothing) and over $5,000 in real dollars slashed off his commercial electric bill.
And if that wasn’t enough, his utility offered to pay for 70% of the upfront project cost to help ensure the project happened.
